Cetelem Belgium recently signed an agreement with the Belgian Football League concerning the Fan Card. The Fan Card, created in 1998, is compulsory when someone wants to buy a ticket in Belgium and gives access to stadiums. The objective is to combat hooliganism by controlling access to stadiums. The card will be free of charge as from June 2004.
The partnership with Cetelem aims at developing clubs’ business by offering supporters a six months’ payment facility for their annual subscription.
In this way Cetelem will be able to communicate with all card holders, via the various channels used by the League : Internet site, specialised magazines, subscriptions, football tickets…
In Belgium there are currently 400.000 Fan Card holders, for 4.4 million households. This is a good opportunity for Cetelem to increase the brand’s visibility and to position itself as a strong and dynamic brand via one of the population’s favourite sports.
