Opening up culture to a wider audience
BNP Paribas has committed to supporting the creation and preservation of our cultural heritage ever since its Foundation was created in 1984. It supports a wide range of initiatives in countries where the Group operates.
BNP Paribas is closely involved in the cultural and artistic life of Belgium. It sees its efforts to promote art and culture as an essential part of its civic commitment.
The main partnerships in this field are with the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium
International Music Competition, the La Monnaie / De Munt opera house, BOZAR (Centre for Fine Arts), and the Flagey Cultural Centre in Brussels.
Quite apart from simply being able to invite clients to exclusive events, the aim of these partnerships is to make culture accessible to as wide an audience as possible, with special emphasis on the under-26 age group, for whom specially tailored programmes have been created.
This prestigious music competition provides a wonderful springboard for young virtuoso performers from all over the world. Accordingly, the competition makes a perfect fit with BNP Paribas Fortis’ determination to actively encourage young talent and it should come as no surprise that we have been giving our unstinting support to all categories – violin, piano, singing and composition – since 1991.
The extraordinarily rich cultural heritage of the La Monnaie / De Munt Opera House and the variety of its annual programme never ceases to excite the interest which BNP Paribas Fortis has shown in the opera house since 1983. Thanks to this partnership, BNP Paribas Fortis is able to invite clients to attend operas, recitals and classical concerts of the highest quality. Moreover, its partnership with GO! PERA, a programme aimed especially at the under-30s age group, means that young people can take advantage of reduced ticket prices and special offers.
As a long-term partner of the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, BNP Paribas Fortis has an opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities and a high quality cultural programme ranging in style from the classical to the modern. Apart from concerts, Bozar also provides a venue for conferences or for tailor-made events, all in keeping with its artistic programming.
The Flagey Cultural Centre welcomes a highly diverse audience for its various happenings – classical or contemporary music, jazz, music from around the world, festivals, film shows etc. This partnership provides BNP Paribas with a wonderful opportunity to open up various different areas of culture to a wide audience. BNP Paribas Fortis offers 30% reductions on the ticket price for customers and staff.
In 2011 BNP Paribas Fortis signed partnership agreements with the MAC’s (Museum of Contemporary Art) at Grand-Hornu, Wiels in Brussels and the Dhondt-Dhaenens Museum at Deurle. Through this collaboration initiative, BNP Paribas Fortis is able to provide modern Belgian artists with the support they deserve. The initiative fits perfectly with BNP Paribas’ multicultural vision and committed attitude.
